July 30, 2003 - Mini-560 Gets a Little Brother
At the urging of my wife and son I displayed the Mini-H at Thresherman Park this summer. It's a long way from finished, however. I used a bevel gear set with a 2:1 ratio for the steering. That steering ratio is Waaaayyy too fast. While the mini-560 is a pleasure to drive, the mini-h is a lot of work. I'm going to replace the bevel gears with a cub cadet steering box with a chain drive with a 1.5:1 ratio to give me a sharper turning radius.
Additionally, the front hood and "gas tank" are not finished. Currently they're made of wood and plaster -- the real gas tank is located up under the center of the hood. I plan to make both the front of the hood and the "gas tank" from fiberglass using the wood and plaster as a pattern as soon as I get some time and figure out how to do it.
Obviously there's a little more to do on the decals as well. I'm going to get a smaller "FARMALL" decal for the front and get the "H" for the sides.
